Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction and acceptance
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your (“the User”, “you”) use of the Sri Lanka section of the RupeeFinder website at rupeefinder.com/lk/ (“the Website”). The Website is owned and operated by Summarum Media Oy, a limited company registered in Finland with business ID FI28230174, whose registered address is Säästöpankinranta 10, 00530 Helsinki, Finland (“Summarum Media”, “we”, “us”). RupeeFinder is a brand of Summarum Media.
By accessing or using the Website you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not access, use, download or otherwise copy or distribute any content obtained from the Website. These Terms take effect the first time you access the Website and form a binding agreement between you and Summarum Media. The version of the Terms published on the Website at the time of each visit applies to that visit.
2. What RupeeFinder is and is not
RupeeFinder is an online loan comparison service. We collect the details you enter in the application form, present you with indicative personal loan offers from our partner lenders, and forward your request to the lender or lenders you choose. Our partners in Sri Lanka are banks and finance companies licensed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
RupeeFinder is not a bank, licensed finance company or lender, and does not provide, arrange, underwrite or guarantee credit. We do not make credit decisions and we are not a party to any loan agreement you enter into. Each lender decides independently whether to offer you a loan and on what terms, and the loan agreement is concluded directly between you and the lender. RupeeFinder does not collect loan repayments and does not handle loan disbursements; all money flows directly between you and the lender.
Any figures shown on the Website, including interest rates, repayment amounts, fees and the representative example, are illustrative only, are based on the limited information you provide, and do not constitute a binding offer. The final terms are set out in the pre-contractual disclosures and the loan agreement issued by the lender. Read them carefully before you sign.
3. Eligibility
You may use the Website only if you are at least 18 years old, legally capable of entering into a binding contract under Sri Lankan law, and resident in Sri Lanka. Lenders may apply their own, stricter eligibility criteria, such as a minimum age of 21, a minimum income or a required credit history. Using the Website does not guarantee that any offer will be made to you.
4. Costs and commissions
RupeeFinder is free of charge for consumers. We never charge you a fee for using the Website or for comparing offers. We earn our income from our partner lenders and affiliates, who pay us a fee when a User submits an application or chooses to find out more about their products. This fee does not affect the interest rate or charges quoted to you by a lender.
5. Your personal data
By using the Website and submitting the application form you acknowledge that Summarum Media will process your personal data in order to provide the comparison service, in accordance with our Privacy Policy, the Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022 of Sri Lanka and the rules and regulations made under it.
In particular, you consent to Summarum Media:
- processing the details you enter in the form in order to evaluate your request and identify suitable offers, which may include checking the information against fraud prevention, identity verification and credit information sources where the lender requires it;
- transmitting the details you provide to the lender or lenders whose offer you wish to pursue, so that they can contact you and conclude the loan; and
- transmitting your details to our affiliated partners for the purpose of presenting financial products to you, where you have given your consent to this.
If you abandon your application before completion, we may contact you by email, SMS or telephone to ask whether you experienced difficulties and whether we can help. You can ask us at any time to stop contacting you and to delete your details.
Marketing messages from RupeeFinder are sent only if you have opted in by ticking the marketing checkbox in the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time via the unsubscribe link in any message or by contacting us at the address in section 20.
6. Accuracy of the information you provide
You must provide true, accurate, current and complete information in the application form and keep it up to date. Providing false or misleading information to obtain credit may be a criminal offence. You may only submit an application for yourself, and you may not submit an application on behalf of another person without their express authority.
7. Changes to these Terms
Summarum Media may amend, add to or remove parts of these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when they are published on the Website. Your continued use of the Website after a change has been published is deemed acceptance of the amended Terms, so please review this page each time you visit. Summarum Media may also change, suspend or discontinue the Website or any of its features at any time without notice.
8. Copyright and intellectual property
All content on the Website, including text, graphics, logos, images, software and the compilation of the content (“the Content”), is owned by Summarum Media, its affiliates or third-party licensors and is protected by Sri Lankan and international copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws. The RupeeFinder name and logo are trademarks of Summarum Media. Nothing on the Website grants you any licence or right to use any trademark without our prior written permission.
You may view, download and print Content for your own personal, non-commercial use in considering our services, provided you keep all copyright and proprietary notices intact. Any other copying, reproduction, republication, distribution, sale, framing, scraping or other exploitation of the Content without our prior written consent is prohibited.
9. Limited licence and acceptable use
Summarum Media grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited and revocable licence to access and use the Website for personal, non-commercial purposes only. You agree that you will not:
- use the Website for any unlawful purpose or in breach of any applicable law or regulation;
- copy, mirror, cache, frame or scrape the Website or the Content, or collect product listings or descriptions for commercial purposes or for the benefit of any other business;
- use any robot, spider, crawler or other automated means to access the Website or to extract data from it without our written consent;
- transmit any material that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, threatening or infringing, or that contains viruses or other harmful code;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, the servers on which it is hosted, or any connected system.
Summarum Media may refuse service, restrict access or remove content at its sole discretion. Any unauthorised use terminates this licence.
10. Links to and from the Website
You may not establish a hyperlink, frame, metatag or similar reference to the Website for commercial purposes without our prior written approval. Requests can be sent to [email protected]. If you receive no written reply within five business days, treat the request as declined.
The Website contains links to third-party websites, including those of our partner lenders. These sites are not under our control. Summarum Media is not responsible for their content, availability, privacy practices or the products offered on them, and a link does not imply endorsement. Your use of any third-party website is subject to that website’s own terms and privacy policy. If a link within these Terms does not work, that does not affect the validity or enforceability of the Terms.
11. Cookies
The Website uses cookies and similar technologies to make the Website work, to remember your preferences, to analyse how the Website is used, and to measure and optimise our marketing. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to notify you when a cookie is being sent, but some parts of the Website may then not work properly. Details are given in the Cookies section of our Privacy Policy.
12. Software downloads
Any software made available for download on or via the Website may be subject to licence conditions of the licensor, and you agree to comply with them. Summarum Media gives no warranty as to the quality or fitness for purpose of such software, nor that any file, download or application available via the Website is free of viruses or other harmful code.
13. Termination, suspension and limitation
Summarum Media may at any time and without notice modify, suspend or discontinue the Website or any part of it, impose limits or conditions on certain features, or restrict your access to some or all of the services on the Website.
14. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The Website and the Content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Although we take reasonable care to keep the Content accurate and up to date, the Website may contain inaccuracies or typographical errors, and offers and rates shown may change without notice. Summarum Media makes no warranty or representation, express or implied, as to the availability, accuracy, completeness or reliability of the Website or the Content, or as to the suitability of any loan product for your circumstances. Nothing on the Website constitutes financial, legal or tax advice.
Use of the Website is entirely at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Summarum Media nor any of its affiliates, directors, employees or agents shall be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or other loss or damage of any kind arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Website or the Content, any linked website, any loan agreement concluded with a lender, or any interruption, malfunction, downtime, data loss, unauthorised access, virus or other event beyond our reasonable control, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such loss.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Summarum Media and its affiliates against all losses, liabilities, claims, costs and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with your breach of these Terms, your use of the Website, or any information you submit through it.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction
The Sri Lanka section of the Website is intended for Users resident in Sri Lanka. Summarum Media makes no representation that the Content is appropriate or available for use in other countries, and if you access the Website from elsewhere you are responsible for complying with local laws. These Terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the Website, are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Sri Lanka.
17. General
Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable by a competent court, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will continue in full force. No failure or delay by Summarum Media in exercising any right under these Terms operates as a waiver of that right. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Summarum Media regarding your use of the Website and supersede all prior understandings. Summarum Media may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms to an affiliate or successor. Neither party is liable for a failure to perform caused by events beyond its reasonable control (force majeure), including natural disasters, war, strikes, power or telecommunications failures, or acts of government.
Any reference on the Website to a third-party product, service or process does not imply recommendation, approval or affiliation by RupeeFinder or Summarum Media.
18. Grievances and complaints
If you have a complaint about the Website or about how we have handled your personal data, please contact our Grievance Officer using the details in section 20. We aim to acknowledge complaints promptly and to resolve them within the timelines required by applicable law. Complaints about a loan, its terms or the conduct of a lender should be addressed to the lender concerned and, if unresolved, to the Financial Consumer Relations Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka or to the Financial Ombudsman of Sri Lanka.
